Biography

Shirley B. Melton, age 74, of 154 Big Springs Avenue, Forest City, NC, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Hospice House.
Shirley was born on October 2, 1935 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late James Floyd Phillips and Bernice Henley Phillips. She worked at PPG Manufacturing for 23 years and was a faithful member of Harmon Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James, George, Floyd and John Phillips and a sister, Helen Davis.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Phillips of Spindale and John Rollins of Rutherfordton; one sister, Rachel Louise Packard of Bostic; six grandchildren, Amber Justice, Ashley Rollins, Kellie Phillips, Kristie Coggins, Wesley Phillips, and Brandon Phillips; four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
