Alice Herring

Alice Herring, age 72, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Henderson Care.

Alice was born March 17, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late William Paul Herring and Dorothy Biddy Herring. She was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1967 and attended the Church of the Exceptional. She was a dedicated homemaker whose life’s passion was taking care of her family. She enjoyed working on crafts and doing needlepoint.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two stepfathers, Sylvester Holt and William “Bill’ Harvey; brothers, Rev. Amos Herring, William Lee Herring, Frankie Herring and a sister, Pat Gilbert.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Anthony Herring and Robert Carson (Amy) all of Forest City; her lifetime partner of thirty-four years, John Carson; two sisters, Pauline Givens and Lillian Holt both of Forest City. She is also survived by four grandchildren, James Harris, Allen Harris, Michael Carson and Abbie Carson.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Mattie Lackey officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway 221a, Forest City, NC 28043 to help defray funeral costs.
