Annie Mae Scruggs Page

May 13, 1935 — January 25, 2024

Forest City, NC

Annie Mae Scruggs Page, age 88, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was born Monday, May 13th, 1935, in Rutherford County to the late Benjamin Dewey Scruggs and Rose Marie Seeback Scruggs. She was a 1953 graduate of Cliffside High School.

Annie Mae was an active community member throughout her life, with nine years of food service in Cliffside and many years at Skyland Textiles. She was a longtime faithful member of Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church, where she proudly worked in the nursery for 31 years and diligently served on the bereavement committee. She spent the majority of her life alongside her late husband as a secretary, accountant, and overall manager of Page Used Cars and Page Mobile Homes. She is remembered as a committed homemaker, hardworking partner, and was a Godly example to her friends and family. She was a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a lady who loved the Lord with all her heart. At the end of a hard day’s work, she could be found either tending to her flower beds or watching her favorite football team, the Clemson Tigers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Franklin Page, and by two brothers, Venny Scruggs and Henry Scruggs, and one sister, Rose Lanier Walker. Those left to treasure her memory include two daughters, Vickie Henson (Ronnie) and Sharlene Ownbey (Kenny), all of Forest City, and one sister, Bertha Burgess (Bobby), of Caroleen. Annie Mae’s legacy continues through her four grandchildren, Paige Thomas, Wendy Stafford (David), DeAnna Jones (Mike), and Todd Ownbey (Allison); and ten great-grandchildren, Kent Dyer, Keely Thomas, Carson Jones, Peyton Stafford, Justin Jones, Landon Stafford, Hayden Earle, Logan Ownbey, Bentley Ownbey, and Kendra Jones.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 29th, 2024, at Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Carnell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the church sanctuary. Memorial donations are requested to Floyd’s Creek Cemetery Fund, 2004 Chase High Rd, Forest City, NC 28043.
