Army Spc Matthew Stone

Army SPC Matthew I. Stone, age 24, of Fort Bragg, NC, formerly of Spindale, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Matthew was born September 4, 1995 in Buncombe County, NC. He is the son of Helenla Rowe of Spindale and Eric Stone and wife, Sabrina of Hendersonville. Matthew enjoyed playing video games and participating in Mixed Martial Arts. He honorably served in the U.S. Army and loved his “Battle Brothers” dearly.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jeremy Rowe and great-grandfather, Kenneth Sprouse.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include, five siblings, Erica Stone, Joel Stone, Jeremiah Rowe, Jacob Rowe and Jocelynn Rowe all of the home; grandmother, Sharon Hughes (Roger Walker) of Forest City; grandfather, James Bradley of Forest City; grandparents, Daniel and Vicki Stone of Inman, SC and great-grandmother, Helen Sprouse of Spindale. He is also survived by one nephew, Gabriel Cline, a niece, Hayven Lankford and a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private service with military honors will be held to honor Matthew’s life. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
