Christopher Dale Burgess

Christopher Dale Burgess, age 66, of Spindale, died peacefully at home on February 14, 2024 from natural causes.

Christopher was born July 23, 1957, in Rutherford County to the late Grover Burgess and Callie Owensby Burgess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth “Libby” Gossett Burgess. 

He is survived by his son, Shane Burgess of Spindale; his daughter, April Burgess-Johnson and wife Willow of Asheville; nephew, Keith Biggerstaff of Forest City; many in-laws and his lifelong friend, Rodney Terry of Cliffside. Chris also has two grandchildren, Callie and Zoe Burgess-Johnson of Asheville. Chris was an avid sports fan, especially NASCAR. He will be remembered for his stubborn and playful nature.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24^th at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating.
