Cora Mae Turner Byers

Cora Mae Turner Byers, age 81, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Cora was born Monday, December 29, 1941 in Dickson County, Tennessee to the late William Boyd Donegan and Eunice Rye Donegan. She graduated from Nursing School in Unicoi County, TN and worked as a surgical nurse for many years at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She then owned and operated Turner’s Tax Service for several years before retirement. Cora was a past member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church and a current member of Chesnee Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed working on crafts and sewing. Cora loved playing the piano and singing in Gospel Trios. She was a dedicated Christian lady and a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Reverend Benny Turner and Reverend Morris Byers; brother, Donald Donegan and a sister, Margaret Mosley.

 Those left to treasure her memory include her sons, Stephen Turner of Spindale, Tim Turner (Tabatha) and Tom Turner (Glennette) all of Inman; grandchildren, Jacob Lail (Macie), Jimmy Lail (Brittani), Preston Turner (Jessica), Lauren Turner and Allie Turner; great-grandchildren, Valor Lail, Gaige Lail, Bracey Wilson, Benjamin Turner and Huxley Turner.

 The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25^th at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
