Garland Cox, age 63, of Lawndale, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2021 at his residence.

Garland was born Saturday, July 12, 1958 in Rutherford County to the late John Wesley Cox and Dollie Watts Cox. He owned and operated Cox Tree Service for over twenty years. Garland enjoyed deer hunting and carp fishing. He loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Bettye, Evon and Jean Cox.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Wesley Cox (Megan) of Lawndale and Will Cox (Christina) of Shelby, NC; three sisters, Kathy Payne (Robin) of Forest City, Brenda Ledbetter (Scott) of Forest City and Shirley Cox of Morganton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Keagen, Lucas, Bailey and Addley Cox.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Chris Emory officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are requested to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
