James Lowery

James "Jim" Francis Lowery, 83, of Harris, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Rutherford Hospital. Jim was born on August 6, 1924 in Henrietta to the late Clyde Walker Lowery and Maggie Henson Lowery and was a long time resident of Henrietta. He retired from Hoechst Celanese after 25 years of service and was a member of the Harris First Baptist Church. Jim was a veteran, having served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a 32nd degree Mason and enjoyed fishing, and growing fruit trees. He was also a HAM Radio enthusiast. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Lowery.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Buchanan Lowery; a son, James Lowery, Jr. and wife, Janet of Harris; two daughters, Jane Lowery Jenkins and husband, Paul of Mooresboro and Carol Lowery Morrison and husband, Marvin of Shelby. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob Lowery and wife, Carolyn of Union Mills and Gerald Lowery of Rutherfordton; two sister in-laws, Nell Toney and Shirley Buchanan; three brother in-laws, Emory Buchanan, Floyd Buchanan and Denver Buchanan. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Bryan Paul Jenkins, Angela Jenkins Twitty, Eric Shane Jenkins, Steven Ray Greene, Jeffery Francis Greene, Nicole Lowery Johnson; one step-grandson, Brian Morrison; nine great-grandchildren, Heather Jane Davis, Dale Devon Davis, Bryan Paul Jenkins Jr., Samantha Marie Jenkins, Steven Ray Greene Jr., Jeffery Tyler Greene, Joshua Taylor Greene, Jordon Tanner Greene, Chloe Faith Johnson; one step great-granddaughter, Nicole Poston; one great great-grandchild, Madison Leanne Brooks. He is also survived by his much loved pet, Ginger.
