Jim Green

James U. Green, age 77, of Bostic, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, November 20, 2023 at his residence.

Jim was born Saturday, January 12, 1946 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late Robert William Green and Estella Howard Green. He served honorably during the Vietnam War as an Aircraft Mechanic in the U.S Navy. Later he worked in industrial maintenance for thirty-five years before retirement. He was a past member of the Forest City Foursquare Church. Jim enjoyed collecting antique clocks, repairing lawnmowers for friends and neighbors, playing the accordion and was an airplane enthusiast. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert W. Green, Jr. and Denver Green; sisters, Mary Ellen Palma and Mareta Koonze and a granddaughter, Helen Anne Devens.

Those left to treasure his memory include his loving wife of twenty-five years, Anna Green; daughters, Lydia Green and Lori Ann Ivey; son, James Stephen Devens, Sr; sister Nevada Rose Phillips of Waterford, Ohio; half-brother, Thomas Bruce Green of Ohio; grandchildren, James Stephen Devens, Jr., Ryan Burdick, Hailey Shehan, Mackenzie Lovelace, Liam Waddell and Alexandria Ivey; great-grandchildren, Helen Devens, Kason Devens, Hadley Shehan, Everley Sims and A’lyriana Valentine; honorary grandson, Josh Pegram and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 26^th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ricky Poteat and Reverend Ted Blankenship officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
