James Hoyt Hamrick

James Hoyt Hamrick, age 94, of Caroleen, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Upstate Community Hospice in Landrum.

James was born Tuesday, June 25, 1929 in Cleveland County to the late Ostace Hamrick and Myrtle Vegrace Hamrick. He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School, class of 1948. James worked approximately thirty years for Burlington Industries before retirement. He held the distinction of being the oldest member of Caroleen Baptist Church. He faithfully served in many leadership positions during his seventy-eight-year membership at the church. James also served in the church choir and in his earlier days was part of a barbershop quartet. He was very well loved and respected by his church family and the entire Caroleen community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-two years, Irene Jones Hamrick; two brothers, four sisters and a niece.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Peggy Randall of Newbury Park, California and a host of nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 30^th at Caroleen Baptist Church with Reverend Andy Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. The body will lie in state at the funeral home, on Thursday morning from 8:00 am until 11:00 am.
