J.L. Bailey

Reverend J. L. Bailey, age 70, of Ellenboro, NC, passed away at his home Friday, January 26, 2007, following an extended illness. Rev. Bailey was born December 3, 1936 in Rutherford County to the late George Logan Bailey and Ruth Mae Hardin Bailey. He was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County he had Pastored several area churches starting the Hidden Valley Baptist Church. He was currently a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class before his illness. He had also worked as a driver for Overnight Trucking. He was preceded in death by his wife Erma Sue Bailey in April 2004.

He is survived by his seven daughters, Janet Padgett of Mooresboro, NC, Donna Conner of Ellenboro, NC, Ruth Hice of Mooresboro, Rebecca Bailey of Mooresboro, Melinda Bailey of Mooresboro, Angela Kennedy of Ellenboro, and Christy Bailey of Harris; six sons, James Bailey of Mooresboro, Michael Bailey of Mooresboro, Timmy Bailey of Hendersonville, NC, Mark Bailey of Spindale, NC, Jeff Bailey of Bostic, NC, and Jake Bailey of Mooresboro, NC; 30 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six brothers, J. P. Bailey of Shiloh, NC, Clifford Bailey of Forest City, NC, Roy Bailey of Earl, NC, Norman Bailey of Forest City, NC, George Bailey of Bostic, NC, and Rev. Dennis Bailey of Forest City, NC; three sisters, Jean Bailey of Forest City, NC, Barbara Randolph of Boiling Springs, NC, and Ruth Thomas of Gaffney, SC.
