Marshall Greene

Marshall Gordon Greene, age 75, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Hospice Residence. Marshall was born December 3, 1931 in Rutherford County to the late William Frank Greene and Ada Vertie White Greene. He has been a life-long resident of Rutherford County having worked at Burlington Industries for over 45 years before his retirement. He met and married Betty Anne Francis in Rutherford County on August 29, 1950. She preceded him in death after 54 years of marriage in 2004. He was her devoted caregiver for over 12 years before her death. He and Joyce White were married in November of 2005. Marshall was a long-time member of Floyd's Creek Baptist Church. He loved his Sunday School Class. He was a Richard Petty fan and also was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan in the Tom Landry era. He was a Car enthusiast and loved to collect knives, state quarters and listening to Southern Gospel music. He was known as the "Big M", to his friends and family.

Marshall is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; three sons, Doug Greene and wife Lisa of Bostic, NC, Tony Greene and wife DeAnna of Hickory, NC, and Roger Greene and wife Karen of Hickory, NC; one daughter Marsha Wall and her husband Mike of Rutherfordton, NC; one step-daughter, Loretta Luckadoo and her husband Bill of Forest City, NC; one step-son Reverend Terry White and his wife Elora of Rutherfordton, NC; three brothers, J.B. Greene of Florida, Talmadge Greene of Henrietta, NC, and Max Greene of Caroleen, NC; six grandchildren, Shane Greene, Megan Greene, Bradley Greene, Jordan Wall, Jacob Wall, and Sophie Greene; six step-grandchildren, Holly Bridges, Lyle Myers, Austin Myers, Teddy White, Carrie Oliver, and Lauren Luckadoo; five great-grandchildren, Isabel Greene, Sean Greene, Dana Bridges, Luke Bridges, Sarah Bridges; six step-great grandchildren, Peyton White, Caleb White, Jacob White, Noah Oliver, Anna Oliver, and Abby Oliver.
