Mike Davis

Mr. Mike Houston Davis, age 88, of 404 Hollis Road, Ellenboro, NC passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
Mr. Davis was born in Townsend, Tennessee on March 7, 1918 to the late James Shannon Davis and Louisa Dunn Davis. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served during World War II as Sergeant and member of the 17th Photo Tech Squadron attached to the Third Army under the leadership of General George Patton. He received his BS degree from Milligan College, Tennessee and his MS degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a teacher and coach at Cool Springs High School from 1949 until 1953 and principal of Ellenboro Elementary School from 1953 until 1977. Mr. Davis was a former Isothermal Community College Trustee. He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church where he was the Men's Sunday School Teacher. After retiring his hobbies included Angus cattle farming and carpentry. Mr. Davis touched the lives of many as educator, coach, friend and father.
