Norman Arrowood, age 83, of Rutherfordton, died Monday, September 9, 2024 at his residence.
He was born on Sunday, November 10, 1940 in Rutherford County, and was a son of the late Bazzie Arrowood. He honorably served in the United States Army. Norman owned and operated Mount Vernon Motors for nearly fifty years. He was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed watching football.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Arrowood, and Wesley “Juke” Arrowood; and two sisters, Shirley Bates, and Ann Roper.
He is survived by two sons, Kelly Arrowood, of Rutherfordton, and Shannon Arrowood (Ruby) of Forest City; daughter, Sandy Fredell, of Huntersville, NC; brother, Ronald “Dink” Arrowood (Patricia) of Forest City; six grandchildren, Matthew Buff, Adam Arrowood, Joshua Arrowood, Stephen Arrowood, Lydia Arrowood, and Jacob Arrowood; great-great-granddaughter, Memphis Arrowood and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Brian Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
