Phil was born Tuesday, June 14, 1960, in Rutherford County to the late Zebulon Mace and Lorene Earwood Mace. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1978. He was a CNC operator for Eaton and Bosch Industries for many years. Phil was a Free Will Baptist and enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, watching history/crime documentaries and as an avid football fan. He enjoyed tinkering with anything that had to with the outdoors. Above all else he was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved son, Phillip Mace II; brothers, Donald and Max Mace and sisters, Emma Sue Robbins, Christine Epley and Yvonne Melton.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Sue Mace; daughter, Elizabeth “Sissy” Mace of Ellenboro; granddaughter, Lola Catherine Mace; grandson, Max Mace; sister, Helen Ingle of Sandy Mush; brother, Vance Mace (Nikki) of Ellenboro; sisters-in-law, Cheri Byrd (Donnie) of Nebo, Wanda Webb of Ellenboro and a host of treasured nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, April 26th at Harrelson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 27th at the funeral home with Reverend Ronnie Robbins and Reverend Shane Adkins officiating.
