Polly Tate

Polly M. Tate, age 81, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007 at the Rutherford Hospital. She was born May 13, 1926 in Rutherford County to the late Peter Calvin Millwood and Celia Vandora Suttles Millwood. She has been a life-long resident of Rutherford County. Polly was united in marriage to Robert Joe Tate on June 9, 1945 in Gaffney, SC. She worked for Burlington in the Henrietta mill in the training room for several years. She later worked for the Rutherford Municipal School System as a Teacher's Assistant working at the Forest City and Harris Elementary Schools. Being a Teacher's Assistant was her special love, and has had long-term relationships with many of her students. She often was heard saying "I never saw an ugly baby or a bad kid". She was also a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church in Henrietta.

She is survived by her husband Bob Tate of the home; a son, Doug Tate and his wife Patty of Sarasota, Florida; two grandchildren, Tim Tate and Eric Tate; and by eight great-grandchildren, Joel Tate, C. J. Tate, Bailey Tate, Bree Tate, Michael Schaeffer, Anthony Schaeffer, Madison Anderson, and Christian Barnett.
