Selma Holland

August 24, 1916 — April 3, 2008

Selma Marshall Holland, age 91, of Forest City, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Henderson Care Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late George Edwin and Lucy Horton Marshall and a widow of Guy Jenkins Holland to whom she was married for 38 years. She was also preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild and three brothers; D.P. Marshall, Albert Marshall and Tom Marshall. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting, gardening and growing flowers. She worked at Stonecutter Mill as a weaver and was a homemaker.
Selma is survived by one son, Larry Marshall of Plano, TX; two step-daughters, Louise Melton and her husband Howard of Forest City and Ola Horne of New Bern, NC; one brother, Rex Marshall and his wife Margaret of Forest City; two sisters, Bonnie Tessnear and Evelyn Lowery both of Forest City; one sister-in-law, Addie Ray Marshall of Forest City; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her caretaker, a nephew, Bob Marshall and his wife Priscilla of Forest City.
