Shirley Lail Davis

Shirley Lail Davis, age 82, of Ellenboro, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at her residence.

Shirley was born Friday, October 4, 1940 in Cleveland County to the late Claude William Lail and Gladys Taylor Lail. She had the distinction of being a member of the last graduating class of Cliffside High School, class of 1959. Shirley worked as a secretary for Cliffside Elementary School for thirty-one years before retirement. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and drawing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved grandson, Tyler Davis and a brother, Donnie Lail.

Left to cherish fond memories are her husband of sixty-three years, Eugene Davis; son, Gary Davis (Susie) of Ellenboro; daughter, Debbie Bailey (Darryl) of Tryon; brothers, Sherman Lail (Creola) of Shelby, NC and Gene Lail (Gaynell) of Clover, SC; grandchildren, Drake Davis (Kate) of Raleigh and Erika Huggins (Tyler) of Spartanburg.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 15th at Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
