Valoree G. Harrill

Valoree Harrill, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on July 27, 2023. She was 95 years old. 

Valoree lived and died in Rutherford County, NC. She grew up as a member of a farming family, married, worked in textiles, raised a family and served her Lord, as a committed church member and Christian, in the truest sense of the word. 

She lost her beloved husband, John (J.B.) Harrill, in February of 2002. Also waiting for her in heaven are her parents, Arvell and Macie Guffey, brothers Reid, Baxter, Roy (Ruth), Garland (Joyce) and Buddy, and sisters Mary Willie (Seaph), Eunice (Robert), Dorothy (Robert) and Dexter (Dallas). Living her legacy are her loving children, Wanda Sweatt (Jeff-departed), Joan Singleton (Jack), John Harrill (Mary), and Janet Harrill; her beloved grandchildren Jensi Allan (Joshua), Ashley Langston (Chris), Megan Cockman (Caleb), Jason Harrill, and Chad Singleton; her precious great grandchildren, Olivia Shaw, Camryn and Grant Cockman, Kyla Conard (Daniel) and Braden Singleton. Valorie is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Hazel Guffey (Baxter-departed), Patsy Guffey (Buddy-departed) and Elizabeth Harrill McCusker (Don-departed), many nieces and nephews, and a great niece, Lindsey Reid, who is like another grandchild.

Her family will miss her grace, goodness, counsel, determination, common sense and lessons in how to treat people and animals. We treasured her sense of humor, hugs and her skills in sewing, cooking and storytelling. To family, friends and most who met her, she was considered an angel on this earth. This angel has now gone home.

Memorials may be made to Sisters of Service, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Arrangements to take place at Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 Hwy. 221-A, Forest City, NC, on 8/1/23, Visitation at 2:00 p.m., Funeral at 3:00 p.m., followed by burial at graveside, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 397 Mount Pleasant Church Rd., Forest City, NC 28043
