Bernice “Bonnie” Brown, age 79, of Spindale, NC, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her residence.

Bernice was born January 24, 1941 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late James Harrison Jenkins and Helen Mae Smith Jenkins. She worked for the Jackson Exit Door Company in Los Angeles, California for many years and most recently was a driver for the Rutherford County Transit Service. She was a member of Long Branch Road Baptist Church and an avid reader. Bernice also enjoyed doing craftwork. She loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Eva Gardner Jenkins; an infant son, Raymond Edward Mears; four sisters, Nina Mae Morrow, Lou Ella Dobbins, Doris Kent, Ann Hunt and two brothers, Bill and Herman Jenkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sheri Vassey (Bobby) and Dale Brown (Cecelia) both of Spindale; five grandchildren, Robert Cramer (Kayla) of Mooresboro, Jessica Cramer Faulkner of Spindale, Cheyenna Vassey of Spindale, Nicholas Brown (Keirstan) of Forest City and Jacob Brown (Bethany) of Spindale; nine great-grandchildren, Emmitt Cramer, Mikeal Faulkner, Nikolai Faulkner, Jakob Faulkner, Kira Baldwin, Jameson Frisbee, Josiah Tallmadge Lee Couch, Maleighna Grace Brown and Madilyn Faith Brown.

A Celebration of Life, to honor Bonnie’s life, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the family residence (852 Spindale Street, Spindale).

Memorial donations are requested to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org  to  St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, or the Burn Victims Fund at http://www.wonderwork.org.
