Bill Conner

Bill Conner, age 76, of Cliffside, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Bill was born Wednesday, August 1, 1945 in Rutherford County to the late Rass Conner and Mildred Taylor Conner. He was a graduate of Tri-High School and earned an Associate’s degree from Isothermal Community College.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Bill was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his later years, he loved playing card games and sitting on the front porch visiting with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Linda Pearson Conner and a brother, Steve Conner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Sherry Biggerstaff (Keith) of Forest City, Jeff Conner (Donna) of Six Points, Tracy Ray (Richard) of Oak Island, NC and Terrie Reid (Kevin) of Spindale; two sisters, Martha “Mott” Hutchins and Ruth Conner both of Caroleen. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jordy Ray (Melissa), Brett Ray, Dorian Cowart, Brittany Conner, Kristine Overman, Katalyn Conner, Shayla Jackson, Marissa Bright (Dillon) and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 pm Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Cliffside Cemetery with Reverend Ted Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.  At other times they will be gathered at 180 Jessica Lane, Forest City.
