Grady “Shady” Skipper, age 67, of Cleghorn Mill Road, Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Grady was born August 30, 1953 in Rutherford County to the late Joe Skipper and Cordie Huntsinger Skipper. He worked at Broyhill Industries and was a self-employed painter. Grady enjoyed NASCAR, classic hot rods and especially loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his life-long companion, Joann Bridges; three brothers, Jerry, Ben and J.C. Skipper and a sister, Kathleen Lynch.

Those left to cherish his memory include a stepdaughter, Loretta Newton of Forest City; stepson, Danny Bridges of Spindale; sister, Sherry Gragg of Shiloh; brother, Robert Skipper of Ellenboro and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kayla Dills, Rusty Bridges, Erika Robbins, Christian Toney and three great-grandchildren, Easton Robbins, Korbyn Robbins and Colton Bridges.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the Union Church Cemetery, 1642 Union Church Road, Rutherfordton with Reverend Chad Sisk officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway 221a, Forest City, NC 28043 to help defray funeral costs.
