Peggy Womack, age 71, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 at her residence.

Peggy was born November 30, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late Robert Lee Amos and Rose Mae Ervin Amos. She was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1966 and had an earned bachelor’s degree from Mars Hill College. Peggy worked as a supervisor for over thirty years at the Rutherford County Department of Social Services. She enjoyed shopping, growing flowers, and playing the piano. She especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. Peggy loved each of her family dearly. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of thirty-two years, Larry Womack; son, Rodney Head of Spindale; two daughters, Sonia Brown and Tonia Head both of Forest City; two stepdaughters, Lauren Lambert (Jeremy) of Woodruff, SC and Kimberly Gibbs of Spartanburg. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Tyler Head, Trent Head, Amanda Head, Aubrie Pinter, Kaleb Brown, Braelyn Freeman, Caitlyn Sheppard, Taylor Lambert, Ayslyn Gibbs, Drake Gibbs and two great-grandchildren, Adalyn Head and Alaia Head.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Norma Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
