Scott Bailey

Scott Bailey, age 62, of Rutherfordton, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.

Scott was born Tuesday, March 24, 1959 in Rutherford County to J.P. Bailey who resides in Rutherfordton and the late Irene Dixon Bailey. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1977. Scott worked for the NCDOT for thirty-two years before retirement. He also worked for Strickland’s Grading for many years. Scott was a volunteer firefighter for the Danieltown Fire Department/SDO Fire Department for almost twenty years. He was a member of Adaville Baptist Church. Scott enjoyed farming and driving heavy equipment. He was dedicated to his family and to his community of friends.

In addition to his father, those left to cherish his memory include his wife of thirty-eight years, Sherry Epley Bailey; two sons, Justin Scott Bailey and Tyler Dean Bailey both of Rutherfordton; grandson, Sheridan Bailey and one brother, Dean Bailey (Annie) of Lyman, SC.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Long Branch Road Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Firefighter Honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Firefighter Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
