Steve Penson, Sr., age 75, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his residence.

Steve was born Saturday, October 12, 1946 in Cleveland County to the late Jack Penson and Mary Kay McArthur Penson. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1965 and earned an Associates Degree from Isothermal Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in a Seabee unit during the Vietnam War.  Steve was the owner of McArthur’s Metal Fabrication in Forest City for many years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, dirt track racing and gunsmithing. He loved his family dearly. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny Penson and Kelly Ward.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Pat Penson; daughter, Shelley Gordon (Jimmy) of Ellenboro; son, Steve Penson, Jr. (Sherry) of Bostic; four grandchildren, Jessica Penson, Drew Gordon (Taylor), Clay Gordon (Abby), Ronnie Penson: great-grandchildren, Garrett Gordon, Colton Gordon and Graham Gordon. He is also survived by his brother, Greg Penson (Ginger) of Rutherfordton and a sister, Candace Funderburk (Jeff) of Dallas, NC.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Bostic Cemetery with Reverend George Whitmire officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday at Harrelson Funeral Home prior to the service at the graveside.
