  Tony Sturgill, age 61, of Forest City, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at his residence.  

      Tony was born Sunday, February 7, 1960 in Norton, Virginia to the late Dewey Earl Sturgill and Pearl Donnells Sturgill. He worked in Construction most of his life and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed various outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Tony was an original “Mountain Man.”  

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Sturgill and Dewey Sturgill, Jr; sisters, Jeanette Sturgill, Dolly Sturgill, Stella Beverly, Mable Sturgill, Barbara Sturgill and Fran Sturgill. 

    Those left to cherish his memory include his life-companion of twenty-five years, Libby Cole; children, William Lee Sturgill (Laura) of Wise, Virginia, Justin Cole of Forest City, Holli Rogers (Cruise Hampton) of Sandy Mush, Brandie Cole of Forest City, Hailey Sturgill (Vincent) of Ellenboro, Caleb Sturgill of Ellenboro and Chelsea Sturgill (Chris) of Ellenboro; brothers, Rufus Ray Sturgill (Ann) of Wise, VA, Jeff Sturgill (Lisa) of Cherryville, NC, Randy Sturgill (Kathy) of Wise, VA; sisters, Rose Navey (Larry Lovelace) and Roberta Gardner (Billy) all of Cherryville, NC; the mother of his children, Vicki Sturgill of Ellenboro; ten grandchildren, forty-eight nieces and nephews, a host of extended family members and his beloved pet, Annie Oakley.  

      A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Allen Culbertson and Reverend Shane Beverly officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
